Uncaria-Tomentosa

UNCARIA (Uncaria tomentosa)

Chiamata comunemente Unghia di gatto, appartiene alla famiglia delle Rubiaceae, cresce nella zona del Perù, Colombia e Bolivia ad una altitudine compresa tra i 100 e i 500 m.

Possiede proprietà anti-infiammatorie, immunostimolanti e antiossidanti.

Numerosi studi in letteratura confermano il ruolo fondamentale dell’ Uncaria utile nella prevenzione e adiuvante nella cura dei tumori

Veniva utilizzata per la cura delle infiammazioni croniche: artriti, infezioni delle vie urinarie e vaginali, intestinali, febbre, asma.

Nota anche per alleviare la sintomatologia dolorosa pre-mestruale e dell’endometriosi.

Studi recenti hanno potuto attribuire al fitocomplesso dell’Uncaria una attività immunostimolante: in particolare gli alcaloidi stimolano la fagocitosi e la reattività delle cellule immunitarie nei confronti di batteri e virus. Queste proprietà possono essere di aiuto  nel trattamento di alcune forme di neoplasie , nel recupero degli effetti della chemioterapia, nel recupero fisico dopo il parto, nel trattamento di alcune patologie virali.

Possiede poi proprietà antiossidanti utili nel contrastare i danni  causati dai radicali liberi. Recenti studi (su animali) ipotizzano che l’ Uncaria tomentosa ha delle proprietà nel  proteggere i reni.
