Sambuco Sambucus nigra L.
La tisana viene normalmente utilizzata durante le sindrome influenzali: raffreddore e malattie delle vie respiratorie grazie alla presenza di numerose lectine, denominate SNA, che sono proteine in grado di legarsi selettivamente con polisaccaridi e glicoproteine presenti sulla superficie esterna delle cellule. Le SNA si fissano alla cellule ciliate dell’epitelio tracheale e in quella posizione legano i virus influenzali di tipo A.
È considerato un diaforetico cioè favorisce il sudore, antiinfiammatorio. Tali attività sono di norma attribuite all’elevato contenuto di fenoloidi (flavonoidi e acidi fenolici). Ai suoi flavonoidi si riconosce anche un effetto diuretico.
Il sambuco è stato anche inserito tra le piante che si sono dimostrate efficaci nel controllo dell’ipercolesterolemia.
I fiori hanno proprietà emollienti, lenitive su foruncoli, scottature ed emorroidi, adatti in maschere per ridare lucentezza, morbidezza ed elasticità alla pelle.
